My Darkroom
For more years than I care to remember, I used the basement as my darkroom  I put old towels (and a new one now & then) on the washer & dryer, and processed film & printed there.  The laundry tub served as a sink.  I washed film there, and it was barely large enough to hold an 11x14 tray to wash prints.  I had built a "cabinet" to mount the enlarger on that had space at the bottom for trays, and drawers on the side for misc. items.  Chemicals and other photo items were stored on utility shelf units.  It worked well, but everything except the enlarger had to be set up & torn down for each session.  Also, I use the basement as a "studio" for photo sessions, and the arrangement wasn't exactly ideal.

Three years ago, I decided it was finally time for the dedicated darkroom I've always lusted after.  At the same time, things got rearranged so I could gain some "studio" space.  The next couple pages have rough (very!) drawings of the old and new layouts, then on to pictures and some description of the darkroom.

I should mention that the floor where I built the darkroom is raised about 5" higher than the rest of the basement.  This, coupled with putting ceiling tile in the darkroom, makes it's ceiling about 7ft high.  The ceiling in the rest of the basement is 8ft high, which is a plus for using it as shooting space.
